project:maxima begins Monday......

Well, the Maxima is off for its body makeover on Monday. What I am actually doing is dropping it off at a local vocational high school, and they are going to repair all the damage and give it a nice clean paintjob. I saw the work the kids do there and have to say it was not bad at all. Estimated down time for the Max will be around 6-8 weeks, which is fine with me (it will keep it off the road for the rest of this winters crappy weather) I am taking the $3500 +/- I get from the insurance company and putting 1/2 in the bank, and the other half is going towards the Max. My Max is a 96 SE 5speed, with 96,000 miles on it. I am a bit of a realist and know my Max isn't going to last forever. I could take the whole 3500 and throw it in, but it really isn't worth it to me. I do know I can probably get another 90K out of it with preventive maintenance and not pounding the hell out of it.
Here is what I will end up doing:
getting all the body work done
adding a 10 disc CD changer to the bose system
possibly adding newer 16 or 17 inch Max wheels
having the whole mechanical system gone over, repair whatever is needed, plus a tune up
Clear turn/side marker lights
possibly the clear lights I saw in an earlier post on here

If anyone wants to see pics of before, during and after I can post them if you guys can give me an idea of where I can post them.

Anyone have any other low buck mods and things I can do to the Max??

Wish me luck! I am going to miss my Max!!!

yeah, thats what I originally thought, but then I saw they were doing an early 90's Vette, and were actually doing a great job. After I actually saw what they were able to do I figured what the hell......
