Difference in superchargers (V1 and V2)?
What is the difference between the V1 and V2 superchargers? I've read some of the posts indicating the V1's are louder and more noticeable than the V2's. Is the power gain and operation pretty much the same? Is one discontinued because of the other, or are both still available for the 4th gen Maxima?

Power is the same.. even though MardigrasMax says the v2 runs higher boost better thant he v1..
V1 has perfect fitment..
V2 has/had fitment issues...
V1 has metal idler pulley
V2 has plastic pulley and will melt off if you run higher boost.. leaving you stranded on the road..
V1 is no longer in production and you can only buy it used
V2 is still avaliable from stillen..
V1 sounds like angry crickets..
V2 is quiet

I have installed both versions.
Stillen changed the kit to reduce their cost.
IMHO the V1 bracket is better, it bolts on and off easier and uses the stock belt tensioner pulley. But the V2 blower is the weapon of choice, because it has higher internal gearing and will boost sooner and higher. The bracket on the V2 is a PIA to install and remove. The belt routing was changed to avoid having to modify the factory thermostat housing, which I'm sure was a big expense for Stillen. The replacment of the factory metal belt tensioner pulley with a plastic one and addition of a plastic idler pulley is a good idea in practice. But as we have seen they are troublesome and the bearings in them are prone to over heating.
I'll probably get drilled for this, but some of the abnormal pulley wear may be attributed to the need to over tighten the belt when using a smaller than stock pulley size on the SC. This puts an extra load on the bearings in the plastic pulleys and causes them to fail. IMHO...

I go back to delio and yell at him.. delio tells me to call his rep.. i call his rep.. they guy has it there and ready to ship..
Stillen doesn't sell the v1 anymore.. they only sell v2 kits and they are $3390 for 95 - 98 and $3900 for 99 - 2k1 ..

i doubt the v1's are available. The have part numbers on most of the stuff inside the kit, and when i went to get delio's parts for his kit (cuz it was missin so damn much) .. we had to like double/triple check his list (cuz the part numbers had been converted to v2 parts, and were different)
so..... if the v1 was available, wouldnt the part numbers have been left untouched?

Yes you can hear it outside when the hood is down. It isn't loud at all though. Hard to explain. Picture a perfectly quiet summer night in the country and the sound of a distant field of crickets. Just an ever so slight background cricket sound. Perhaps another example would be blowing very, very lightly into one of those sport/coach whistles.
