FSTB doesnt seem to be working for me!

hey everyone i have had the FSTB installed for a while and it doesnt seem to make any difference. I have taken high speed turns too!! I think it might have something to do with the bar not being centered right or something when i installed it bc it is more to the right side than to the left. Would that make any difference? Thanks....also does anyone have a way to secure a subwoofer box?? bc when i turn the sub goes all over the place!

Ummm ... how can it be more to the right than to the left? It doesn't make a HUGE HUGE difference, it's more of a subtle mod. Make sure all bolts are torqued to 35-40 ft/lb.

Do you mean that the strut towers don't line up with the holes in the bar?

I think he means that the bar is positioned off-center (looking down the middle of the engine bay) because of the way it is adjusted on the adjustment threads at each end of the bar. (I don't think he's referring to the mounting brackets where they secure to the 3 bolts on the strut tower)

P.S: As long as the bar is tightly secured and there is enough (+) pressure on the bar between the two strut-towers, whether it is slightly off center or not shouldn't affect it's performance.

Good luck!

That's a mod you will DEFINITELY notice. Faster turn-in (steering response) & much more stable in high-speed sweepers, etc.

It's really the biggest missing ingredient that cranks the vise down on that sloppy OE suspension!

the rsb will make a huge difference. if you have the money, drop the suspension on the max and you'll see a MAJOR improvement.

good luck.

does anyone have a way to secure a subwoofer box?? bc when i turn the sub goes all over the place

I suggest going to www.westmarine.com search for cooler chocks! These are used on boats. They come in PVC, cast/chrome and other materials. I'm getting some chrome one's! These are intended to keep a cooler from moving around the deck of a boat.

I went to Home Depot, purchased some brackets, and drilled through the floor. Sub no move, no mo.

I don't know if you used bolts or sheet metal screws, but if bolts, make sure you paint the bare-metal edges of the holes to prevent corrosion.

If sheet metal screws, then use clear silicone on the base of the holes under the bracket to seal it water-tight & reduce possibility of corrosion.

Glad you found a solution. Who needs those "extra" unwanted thumps of a sub box acting like a boggle cube in your trunk, right?!

Some say the difference is huge, some say it is subtle. I say it is subtle and one you can easily get used to. And it doesn't make you forget about the understeer or the body roll... Get the other suspension mods and you will be happy. I've always said that with the FSTB, if someone stole it in the middle of the night, VERY few if any would notice it gone the next day.

I torqued the bar to ~32.5 ft/lbs. Does anyone know if this too low?
Thanks.

I just got mine, and I'm going to have to agree with this...it's nice, but not THAT nice!

i've seen peeps use velcro. you can get big pieces from home depot and velcro your sub to the carpeting in the trunk. works so far.

The concensus seems to be that the FSTB is mostly appreciated on the track and during 'extremely' enthusiastic driving, whereas the RSB is a mod. you can appreciate every day.

RSB is definitely the one to get first, if you're prioritizing. . .

I secured my sub box by cutting apiece of plywood to fit the bottom of the trunk and using brackets to bolt to that.

As for the FSTB, it is subtle. Before I had it, in high speed sweepers, bumps would make the car do a little side to side wiggle mid corner. As soon as I put on the FSTB, the wiggle was gone. That and high speed lane changes are more direct.

Subtle.
