question? Installed monroe rear quick struts
As the title says I installed rear quick struts. I figured I would torque the strut center bolt to 15Ft pounds after I lowered the car to the ground just to make sure the bolt was torqued to spec. I used a deep socket to torque it down.Well, the torque wrench never clicked and the deep socket isn't deep enough to turn the bolt anymore. There are about 7-8 threads showing on the bolt with no clicking. Is that normal? I don't think my torque wrench is the problem but may be.As received there were only about 3 threads showing on the bolt.Should I loosen the nut back to 3 threads showing or let it be? What harm could be done if that nut is too tight?

With the car on the ground, the bushings should be slightly compressed. A quick strut requires no adjustment prior to installation. Hance the term, quick strut...
What made you decide to tighten things?
What made you decide to tighten things?
The reason I wanted to tighten it to spec is because some people had problems with monroe leaving the nut too loose and the struts making a bumping noise going over bumps. Thanks for the responses fellows. I think i'll loosen it up a little and call it a day. Thanks again.
