One month/1200 mile update:

So overall this mod has held up quite well, still amazed it was all I needed to silence the embarrassing brake pad rattle I had before. Only maintenance I've had to do was to install grip tape on the other retainer clip (in my case the upper clip) on the driver's side after I noticed a hint of rattle while hitting a massive pothole at highway speeds.

Otherwise everything looks great and mechanically intact, the grip tape is still sticking to the bottom retainer clip after 1000+ miles which I definitely wasn't expecting to happen.

ALSO, today I went to the DMV (I live in Delaware) to renew the i30's registration and was surprised (at first) that the car failed the brake test! I had always assumed it was just merely a grated steel 1 foot-wide scale, but today I learned it also measures braking force @ each wheel while stopping.

The DMV worker printed me out two line graphs (in color!) which indicated a frozen right-rear caliper. Picked up a rebuilt from pep boys, almost done installing it now.

TL;DR: Got noise? Get tape!
