How manny miles does your car have? If you haven't replaced your shocks in more than 50-60k miles is a good idea to do so, specially if you're planning on lowering it, but that's up to you

In doing lowering springs, you might find a bunch of worn out parts.

I got some mixed answers about that, some say springs are fine, others have said they've broken parts from it (I wanna say axle damage?). I'm waiting for some tokico illuminas before I put my springs on. And that's only until I can afford some coilovers ^^

If you are dropping your car dont do it on stock shock and for the age of the 4th gen it's best to change out as much as you could afford. you would enjoy it after..

Go coilovers. Springs on stock worn struts = no go.

New struts, springs, mounts, boots = almost coils. Do the right thing.

The springs are usually almost always OK. Springs are replaced because of lowering.

The springs came as a free extra when I bought my 00 Max, since they fit my 02 I35 too, I figured I'd wait until I saw some illumina's for a decent price.

My license isn't legal yet b/c of a DUI charge (first time, and last. I quit drinking), so I figured I can wait until I see some goin for cheap

never ever lower a car on stock shocks they will blow soon some last more than others but trust me they will blow, a set of struts are not that expensive but make sure you get a set that works well with lowering springs because some struts are just OEM replacement and aren't made to be used with lowering springs and will blow. Good example of struts that can be used with lowering springs are Koni Yellow, Tokiko Illumina, KYB AGX, etc etc.
