Factory Fog light alternative, inexpensive, looks good & brighter too.
Factory Fog light alternative, inexpensive, looks good & brighter too.
I had a cracked lens on the passenger side when i got the car and i wanted to replace the light, but they're too pricey aside from pull-a-part (which i didn't want to bother with).
So I figured I would buy the same lights i had on 2 of my previous vehicles. I bought them at walmart, they're inexpensive (under $20) and very bright and I got them to mount up really easy using factory bracket mounting holes.
Here's the steps i did to install them.
1. Removed the oem fogs and brackets (will require you to remove some of the plastic shielding underneath the front bumper for easier access).
2. used the brackets that came with the new kit.
3. cut off and reused the oem fog light wire connectors on the new bulbs.
4. lined up new fogs by hand...easy.
something cool i figured out was that the new brackets bolt up to factory bolts holes and then just need to be slightly bent to point straight ahead. it was't hard. i just got everything installed, grabbed ahold of it with my hands and twisted it. I'm going to attempt to post a link to the pic of what's in the kit. Again, Walmart sells this kit.

I haven't taken a pic of what it looks like on the 4th gen yet, but i will post one up tomorrow if possible. i like the way it looks.
Hopefully, this can help some people out who want to get rid of the factory fogs. These lights are brighter and have a better field angle and distance. I like how they light up more side-to-side as well. i always thought the oem fogs were too weak.

After reading this thread, i went and bought a set from walmart. They are very bright, but thats because they are crystal clear glass. But on the con side they CANNOT hold H.I.D.S. the housing gets extremely hot to the point where I couldnt hold them. Lights were only on for about 5 mins.
