new ECTS, do i have to clear the code?

new ECTS, do i have to clear the code?

installed a new ECTS, and now my CEL is on, do I need to have to code cleared since the ECTS was aftermarket? (Duralast)

I had to manually reset my codes to get rid of the CEL for the coolant temp sensor.

Take off the little cover by the gas pedal under the dash.
Find a small flathead screwdriver
Behind the cover you will see the ECU
On the left side, there is a very small screw
Carefully...CAREFULLY...turn this screw clockwise till it stops and turn it all the way back. Repeat. I'm not sure on the timeframe by which this process has to be done, but I know it has to be done at least twice.

AGAIN...BE GENTLE WITH THE SCREW

Start the car and your cel should be gone.
