hard starting...smelling gas? pls help

1995. 170k. as engine turns over it acts as if it is starving for gas. Once finally running it runs perfectly. I can smell gas during the cranking process. Any ideas appreciated !

Sounds like your fuel rail is leaking fuel into the cylinder(s) too early. Remove rail and turn key to ON position to observe for leaks.

Could be a lot of things. Possibly bad ECTS, causing it to be overly rich. Even being too lean would cause no combustion and result in a raw fuel smell.

Any codes? CEL?
