Right Engine Mount Removal

Hello everybody...I'm attempting to replace my water pump and I need to remove the right engine mount. The Haynes manual says that I should support the engine with a hoist from above. My experience with other cars I have used a jack from the bottom of the engine to lightly jack/support the side I was changing.

So, can I support the engine with a jack from below to remove the right motor mount? Also, where exactly should I place the jack on the bottom of the engine?

I downloaded a copy of factory service manual (1995) but have been unable so far to locate the section that deals with changing the mount. I just want to get this done and any help would be greatly appreciated. If someone has a picture of where they put the jack that would be awesome!

You can put it on the crossmember underneath. You will see a grove and lip that should be fine. Make sure you use jack stands also to support the car

I don't know what you mean by the crossmember. Is it #124OP from this picture:

Is the crossmember circled in this picture? Would I place the jack in the approximate position as the arrow?

That's the crossmember bar alright.

I removed that mount by raising the engine from below. Using a bottle jack I raised it from where the engine and trans meet. I mounted it with a jack stand right behind the bottle jack mounting point. The crossmember bar was too low for a mounting point.

Note that you'll need to put a piece of wood between the engine and both the bottle jack and jack stand mounting points.

Put a wood on a jack and pump under the oil pan. It will be safe as long as its 1ft long piece of wood.

you know, you can replace the water pump & access the tensioner without removing the engine mount.

yes, but more room to work if you remove it.

what i did was used a 2x4 and a jack, and raised up my engine under the oil pan.
