How much more handy will this be over the 99 oem ecu and running a vq35?

Extremely handy, IMO it's more beneficial than a full 02 swap because you can tune your car!!! You can extend the rev limiter, adjust timing and fuel to gain power!

You can run bigger throttle bodies with ease and tune accordingly even run a Q45 maf w/ a big TB to make a nice bump in power! The only limit is your budget and imagination!

Ok, I was out all last week, no electronics enjoying family and Disney World....any updates? I read through the posts and most of them were off subject. What are we lacking to start this process. I did read the only perk is getting one built..ok so I have to pay for it. If it's going to be around $300 then no problem. I just don't want to swing over $500 plus paying gas. And if anyone is willing to chip in a few dollars to help the gas bill that would be cool too.

I know I gave out my contact info to the leader of this, so let me know if you can't get me on here.

I see we got our 10.
I got my money.
I also got a Dyno waiting for my car to be on it.
I apparently also don't have the patience to wait for it to arrive.

I can still include you on the list if you can provide a $300 down deposit fully applicable towards the purchase of the unit.

I really think if they make this product, all the 4th gens would jump on board vs running a piggyback or emanage. Especially if the price is running around $300.00. Hell I bought a Apexi AFC that I almost paid 300 for and will be selling it to recover from this purchase. So I have already 300 set aside ready to dump on a product. We just need a price from them so people can budget for it.

$500-600 - The cost of Emanage Ultimate or a JWT ECU

I would love to get it like 475, when they come in today to discuss things I will get pricing suggestions.

But for sure it's not going to be a penny over $600

Do some readings guys, this kit on other cars are completely customizable (If that's a word) and will completely replace the ecu, so the answer is yes. It just depends on the boards and chips that are put in.

I'm guessing you will be able to buy a basic kit and then customize by buying and adding other boards yourself.

M.S. is doing all of the customization for us.

All we have to do is fork over our money, plug in the box, tune.

So you can run a 4" intake if you were so inclined to. Just tune for it.

Talked to the vendors today, they're really cool and down to earth guys definitely know how to push a product that's for sure.

He's going to update megasquirt w/ everything we discussed today (Having two cars ready to test, automatics, manuals, 99 ecu, how the VQ30 works, almost everything).

Once megasquirt figures things out we will hear back from them on when they're ready for testing.

Just an FYI, know it's a little off subject, but the 99 does store codes. I replaced the knock the day before yesterday and could not clear the code (using the **** turning method on the ecu) after disconnecting the battery. So I disconnected the battery again and left it unhooked overnight and the next morning it was still there. I had to go to my friends shop to clear it with the computer..weirdest thing.

So today I get in the car crank her up and can tell by the acceleration the code is back, pull over and clear the code (**** turn method) no problem. Wonder if it has something to do with if a code is stored when you disconnect the battery and reconnect it.

BTW - as you can tell I'm still getting the knock code..be on the look out for a thread to help me trouble shoot it. This isn't the place. Thanks guys.

Oh yeah - aackshun, great news can't wait..can't believe I'm saying that due to my car being gone for a month or so.

I've spoken to a few 99 owners and they claim the opposite, that once power was disrupted they cleared their codes. Maybe you didn't correct the problem. Sometimes its the harness that needs to be replaced and not the sensor.

They're probably the same type of people who claim that 3" exhaust don't make power on our cars

I replaced the harness too. and I tried clearing it before I even started it, right after I connected the battery right up and it wouldn't clear. Yes something is still causing it to throw the code but today (without disconnecting the battery) i was able to clear the code just fine. It seems like if a code is stored and you disconnect the battery and then reconnect it the code can not be cleared from the normal **** method. Trust me, and don't question my ability to clear the code this way..i have a 99 that use to love to throw codes left and right due to the coil packs.

Not hardly, the individual I spoke to are quite knowledgeable about the 4thgens and are actually making good power.
I just dont see why the 99 ecus would be different then the 95-98's, even the 00's reset by losing power.

The only answer I can give is from what I have read (sorry can't find it to quote it) but the 99 ECU was the only year out of the 4th gen that a certain maker (hitachi for some reason comes to mind) made this ECU.

There has been proved other differences with the 99 ECU with any others as a reason for JWT will not mod them for us.

JWT doesnt mess with them due to the immobolizer system

I was just poking fun.

Nay, why does it even matter?

It's the pinout from when I last talked to them, there is one specific guy to talk to over there though me forgets his name....

Even if it is the immobilizer like you saaiiiiddd.......

Why are we discussing JWT stuff? It's clearly about to be inferior (in the tuning aspect) in a few short months.....

From my understanding thats what changes some of the pinouts, which is why an earlier ecu can be modded to match up those pinouts and bypass the immoblizer also allowing you to use a regular key. Im sure its Ben youve talked to.
And YES, if the MS deal goes through it would be the most ideal setup and I do hope for the Maxima community that it works out......
but you do have a history of being involved in things not following through.

Well first it was a few different builds, currently its a 3.5 swap with Osiris, waiting for the new setup to be annouced.
Also werent you laying claim to win the IFO? Also doing the red/black theme with CF hood, vinyl trunk. and custom modded tails?
Plus turning the white 4th gen into a torque monster? Oh, didnt you also state you were working on creating a set of true long tube headers a while back?
Less talk More aackshun!!!!

But in all seriousness if this does go through the MS will open a lot of doors for the Maxima crowd. A true stand alone is the way to go for sure.

-Not happening, got actual money into the current plan, only other change would be if I suddenly happen to come across $1100 to afford the emerald standalone
Also werent you laying claim to win the IFO?
-When is the next one? As long as the red car is up I will do my damnest to win AMS class for at least in Houston, next year the region.
Also doing the red/black theme with CF hood, vinyl trunk. and custom modded tails?
-Still doing it, that idea got even crazier, you'll see when I get to the exterior work again, along w/ other crazy exterior stuff.
Plus turning the white 4th gen into a torque monster?
-That's the white nightmare's dream now... if you're referring to the high N/A TQ #'s for a 3.0... If you're tlaking about having a flat tq line? I've long since given up 3.5 power dreams ATM... I just want a running 3.5 .
Oh, didnt you also state you were working on creating a set of true long tube headers a while back?
-No longer true long tubes, you'll see after the motor goes in, it's still unique though.
Less talk More aackshun!!!!
-ONE THING AT A TIIIIMMEEEE

I hope so! I can't wait.

10/28 and 12/9 for IFO in TX......

10/28 would be lovely... Road Ready by then is possible.... Only thing I can promise about the red car is that it will be jackstand balling by maxus. I may put wheels on it to drive it to a meet for show but I definitely won't be racing in it.

Here we go, this could and will be the long process....what are we talking like another month for them to figure this thing out? Sorry to be pushy but I'm just worried that some on the list will fall off if this drags out too long.

We have room for two to fall off....

And it's not like they're going to go up and buy another product, there is no other alternative!!!!!

The vendor is in our corner, he will make sure something gets done in a fairly timely manner (when it comes to these things, so don't expect something TOMORROW for instance, but a week from now we should hear something back).

Update:

Megasquirt got back to us very quickly, they will be using the MS-II chip for our Standalone Units. They need an ECU, it appears that our connectors are impossible to get, so I'm sending them in my 99 ECU and a 95/96 ecu so they can have a look-see at them, also a pigtail.
