how about this... the 10 or so people who are in put a down payment, 75-100 toward the MS3. this money goes to the purchase of an auction vehicle which at the most will cost 1000: 10 x $100 = $1000 (extra funds will be returned). after MegaSquirt finishes development, the car will be sold. the money, and any profit, will be divided up evenly among the donors and applied toward their MS3 purchase. minimal investment just to get the ball rolling, i know i spend more than that on fast food in just one month.

Wow - I like the way you think.

Challenge Time. Time for at least 10 people to stand up and fork over for the test mule car. To make this even more interesting, I'll cover mightyMax95 and Aaron's portion as well as my own part of this challenge. Now we need seven more 4th genners to stand up and fork over so we don't miss this opportunity.

Time to put it up, guys.

Do we still have 10 commited buyers for the MSIII ECU if it becomes available? I doubt it - but it's time to stand up and be counted, contribute money for a auction donor car, or watch the project die.

Aaron - you went the extra mile in getting this ECU development arranged, and you deserve kudos for that.

you'll be lucky to find 10 buyers for auto in general

as i have learned many times on the org, lots of talk; when it comes time to pay, many disappear

Honestly the auto is of little concern as most of the major players already have an aftermarket TCU. We were just being nice.

If MS does this successfully, then the MS III mod. 4thgenMaxima can work with either manual or automatic transmissions - if the test mule is a 5spd, then some other TCU will be required for the automatics.

If there aren't enough 4th gen drivers wanting to get a custom plug-and-play fully-tunable ECU built for their cars, then this MS project dies here, and I will buy another fresh roll of Gorilla Tape and keep tuning my MAF with that.

it can be done!

All you need is a crank pulley with vq35 trigger wheel on it and the crank sensor added around there to read it.

or just run 3.5 timing

Problem is that the trigger wheel has to match the 350 flywheel trigger pattern... and fit on the 4th gen crank pulley on the front, so that the stock ECU can still be used. But you knew that....

It depends on how quickly anyone else can chip in for a donor... my money comes and goes rather quickly. So I'm *tenatively* in as long as enough people can fill the spaces

I have said from the beginning if its plug and play I would be in. I need details, and also can I swap back to stock ECU easily If need be. How easy it to tunes with MS. I have asked a few guys I know that dealt with boosted car and they weren't familiar with MS. Need these questioned answered before I can make a commitment.

I have no idea, doesn't matter if we can't get a car to megasquirt.

We have like $200 to donate for the tester.... At this point I minus well use my red car's funds to ship one of our local cars over there.

We have a car, we have shipping handled, I'm dropping the ball now, I just need to focus on getting my daily back on the road.

Once that's back on the road, I need to have another talk with the dealer on the terms of the deal and the cost of the box.

Just give me about 4-5 days to finish this side project of mine so I can give this attention again.

kthx.

There probably still is but its few and FAR between. I was interested and still am interested but with what Nistune is offering and how cheap it is it just beat Megasquirt to the punch. What that means is, its easier and cheaper to get Nistune vs megasquirt. MS>>>>Nistune in terms of its capablities. But Nistune on a legal street car>>>>>>MS, especially since 4th gens are OBDII and have to get past emissions testing. Nistune is PnP, allows full adjustment of all engine functions, and still allows you to pass state testing. Big issue for most of us since we like plug and play and a lot of people tuning on here are not into swapping ECUs and etc to pass inspection.

So we do now have a PnP "Standalone" engine management in Nistune but that is not saying it cannot be improved. Nistune does not support, widebands, unless a laptop is hooked up, also nistune has no Map sensor, it has launch control but no ability for things such as anti-lag and other features that would allow more advanced boost tuning and transmission options such as adding SMG boxes etc. But at the same time outside of anti-lag nobody is going to dump that much money in this platform. If auto was supported the more hardcore drag racer on this sight would be very interested as launch control would make there lives much easier. So finding support will be hard but it is there. Before you burn too much effort on this atleast you will know what you are getting into.

But if your car is a 95, by all means GO FOR IT. Megasquirt would most likely be great in your case. One of the issues with Megasquirt was finding a test car i have a spare 4th gen(lol how many people can say that) here that i can lend for MS but it is a 97. So its a little difficult but the more difficult the better. So if somebody is still willing i can help with the car aspect but it will have to be able to return to stock on the fly would be my only requirement. So PnP only.
