Transmission Chunk Broke. Weld OR Replace

Well This is my 3rd Tranny,99 Maxima A/T Past month it has been slaming into gear when cold and taking off from 3rd gear and not downshifting or any of that when cold only when warm all is fine,im pretty sure it needs new Shift Solynoids but today Without knowing anything car was smoking really really bad from ATF being dropped on Y pipe took back to shop tore it down and found a 2 inch of Aluminum Missing.

Question is,should my Dad weld it closed and we swap out the Shift Solynoids n Call it a day Or Another Junk Yard Tranny?

junk yard tranny. What is your idle RPM? Being too high can make it so you run through a tranny really fast. Neutral drops?

Our auto trannies are pretty damn strong and provide well up into 200k+ miles if it's cared for and not beat on.

Just saying....

No, neutral drops kill your clutches, bands, and planetaries. You shock load the **** out of your tranny when you neutral drop it. You are an idiot. Sell your car for parts and buy a bicycle.
