clutch and lowering springs

okay so i have a 97 maxima and im looking to uprgade the clutch and do lowering springs. so please only comment if you have done either or both of them on a 4th gen. i want to do a stage 2 clutch but wondering if its worth the money? also i want to drop my car 1.5-2in in the front and back on lowering springs. my rims are 235/45/r17 so im wondering if they will rub or not. i dont want to do coilovers due to shorten life span. thanks.

If your going to do some good engine mods it, do the stage 2. Otherwise an OE or equivalent will be fine. Lots of guys on here like the 5th gen clutch in our 4th gens.

Your car will not rub, plenty of info on here regarding springs. Eibach, H&R, Progress, Tein H-Tech are all good choices. Couple them with a nice strut.

yah i keep looking up info and everybody told me to type in search and **** got same exact questions but not a specific answer. i saw alot of people with the tein s-techs would you recommend them or are the h-techs better? and is the 5th gen just a better clutch and would i have to swapp other parts to fit it?

In order of most comfort to most sporty: H&R, Tokico, Htechs, Progress, Eibach. Don't try and slam your car 2"+. It ain't gunna work. You will need, yes need, new struts. Either KYB for cheaper money but stiffer ride, Tokico for a bit more money and a better ride or do it once and get Koni's and shorten them.

For stock power the OEM AE clutch is the best buy. It should last longer than the aftermarket junk. Stage 2 is for power upgrades like a small shot of nitrous or low boost.

I would not lower a car on stock struts. It's just not a good idea. OEM/stock replacement struts are not valved for lowering springs' higher rates. Its a crap shoot on ride, safety, and longevity. No matter what, the strut will wear out quicker. They could last a week, or a year. No way to tell what condition yours are in.

Suspension is no place to cut corners. If you are on a budget get the Tokico strut and spring combo. Still, at $500, its not cheap. Perhaps you can find a set of used springs for cheap. Then find a set of new Illuminas, AGX, or Konis. Don't buy used struts. It is not worth it. Chances are they have been abused and are shot already. Trust me, been there, done that.

how much of a drop would you recommend? cause ive seen the tokico strut/spring combo with the 1.25in drop. do you think that is even enough to notice a difference drivingwise?
