CEL P0135 O2 Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1
Hi All,
I'm new to the forum, and brought a 99 maxima recent for my sister's first car. Last week, the CEL came on and autozone says it's a O2 sensor that needs to be replaced.
The code is P0135. I check through the threads and found alot of different information, and am still a bit confused on the correct part to buy.
The maxima I have is NON California emissions. I have the federal emission version.
*I have read that 2 of the O2 sensors are the same, so i am thinking of replacement both of them, can someone please tell me which 2 O2 sensors are the same part number, and where they are located?
Thank you so much for your help,
-Leo

Go to Rockauto.com, look up your year max, and buy a pair of UPSTREAM Denso O2 sensors, or whatever brand you choose.
They need to be UPSTREAM, those are interchangable. NUmber of wires needs to be 3,
Denso Part number 2343098 for example. But they only have two left on Rock Auto.
Stard OEM replacements will work as well. JUST REMEMBER UPSTREAM!!!! and 3 wire harness not 4

Thank you Phromethius, I actually saw these as the part numbers on another thread, but when I went to Autozone, they told me that DENSO 2343098 are ONLY FOR the maxima with the CALIFORNIA emission and not the federal one. They said I need to get the Bosch 13242 or 13562 for $80 a pop... does the california/federal emission really matter?
I have the federal emission 99 maxima, and would love to use the DENSO 2343098, since it's alot cheaper than the Bosch.
Thanks

I have a 96 FED spec. I have Densos in my engine. They made my codes go away. Not sure what Autozone is telling you. The only difference I knew about FED vs. Cali spec is the number of total sensors upstream and down. Three Up stream and two down? I think for Cali.
I did not come across any info like that in my reasearch. And in fact my local Autozone suggested the Denso's, it was then confirmed with info found here so I don't know.
