0705 EVAP

I've been getting the 0705 code every 200km's or so for a while, just took off and checked that the vent control valve near the rear left wheel, wasn't seized, lubed it and check the wiring. What else is most likely to be tripping that code? (the gas cap is ok)

You've got to smoke the evap lines which means that when you (or a mechanic) puts smoke into the evap hoses, the smoke will come out wherever the leak is...i've never done it so I don't 100% know how to do it but I know thats the process to finding a leak in your evap system. But you can take it to a mechanic and have them do the test which shouldnt cost much...let them find the leak then you fix it yourself.

EDIT: You can also PM member pmohr as he might be able to shed some light on how to smoke your lines. I just did some searching and was not able to find a procedure for smoking the lines...but I only searched for a couple minutes.

Rhonster,

I had this code pop up yesterday while driving. The car didn't have any strange symptoms or obvious performance issues. I noticed that the last 3 or 4 times i bought gas, that my gas cap was not tight, but barely on enough not to unscrew itself. I also remember just clicking it once. I turned and clicked a good half a turn last night when buying gas. No code came back so far.

This is more common than people might think. I use to work at o'reilly and can't tell you how many customers bought new gas caps which fixed it. I'm not saying it's the reason you got the code, but it's the easiest and cheapest solution.

Good luck man.
