4th gen Jake Brake?

Hey guys, when im on the highway and let off the gas it starts to drop speed, and sound like a truck with a jake brake. I have a pretty good exhaust leak, is that what is causing it??? If i put it in neutral its fine but when i go back to drive, it slows down.. Thanks for your help.

When you step on the gas, the car picks up speed.
When you let off the gas, the car slows down.
An exhaust leak makes noise.

Sounds like drivers education 101

Wow! Im glad I wasted my time posting a question to a bunch of know-it-alls. I guess I should have known the answer to my own question before I asked it! Sorry to bother you all. If I ever need a spoiler or a fire extinguisher mounted, I'll ask you guys. Thanks

Fixed.

Things can get ugly quick here, you asked a question and it was answered, simple as that.

Just be glad Tigersharkdude didn't catch wind of this yet

Some say there is no such thing as a stupid question, but on the surface it looks like you managed to come up with one. What gear, speed, and RPM are you at when it decelerates? How quickly does it decel? Cuold be your auto is not going into high gear or your brakes are dragging.

Post #2 is accurate account of basic motor vehicle principals, and likely all thats going on.

It sounds like a harley. When I let off the gas its like i hit the o/d button and turned it off but like x3 more. It really slows itself down alot. It isnt just simple physics. Nevermind!!

lol you must take a little ribbing before you get help. Take it and then you can get help from the single best source on these cars on the planet. Is your car A/T? Your tranny could be locked into 2nd gear or even 3rd gear and thus slowing you down faster but you should notice the higher than norm RPMS while driving though. More info is needed and really a video would be best. BTW if you think yours is loud? You would hate mine coasting from about 90 lol and I DONT have an exhaust leak I just love loud exhaust tones

He has an exhaust leak, it's going to be louder than any properly functioning exhaust setup.

For some reason I remember my car being as loud on the engine brake as it would on acceleration, and when it's reach near Idle RPM's the car would do the jake break sound he's referring to.

** When I had an exhaust leak **

Mine does the sound but I must be up around 4k and be coasting down from a speed above about 75mph. I enjoy the sound, a very deep and throaty sound. Hope I dont have a eak after all lol.....
