02 sensor problems and question

First off let me start out, the max is a 1996 maxima (FED. Spec.) I need to know where bank 1 sensor 1 (p0130) location on the car? And also the location of Bank 2 sensor 1 (p0150)? Whats the best replacement 02 sensors for the 4th gen maxima?

Bank 1 is closest to the firewall and bank 2 is closest to the radiator. A short search of the forum will yield you all of the info you need

I have been riding dirty in my 2008 Nissan Maxima for 2 years because my check engine light has been on and the codes that were returning were O2 sensor codes. I spent $100's buying O2 sensors, replacing this one and that one, light never went out, so I couldnt pass the emissions test with those codes in order to get my state inspection sticker. How about, I bring it to the dealership last week, and this is after I bought an extended warranty after they confirmed my O2 sensors needed to be replaced, to make a long story short, when I return to get them replaced under the warranty, the problem was that $4 worth of fuses were bad/missing in my car. They replaced them (i had to pay the $60 labor fee, UGH), and the light went out and I passed my state inspection. I'm a bit disgusted.

Seems what you didn't do was troubleshoot before you threw parts at the car.
I assume you were getting o2 heater error codes, not slow response or lean/rich conditions.

well

that's why I pay people to do that for me. I'm work fulltime, I am in school fulltime working on my 2nd masters and I'm a fulltime mother to 3. I work in I.T. I don't fix cars.

yes

Those are exactly the codes that the people who checked the codes for me were receiving.

And again, I did my part of troubleshooting. Taking it to mechanics and the dealership to do that for me. Even THEY said it was the O2 sensors!

Can anyone confirm the location of the o2 sensors on the car? And what connectors are the o2 sensors for the code p0130 and p0150?

Those are the two front O2 sensors located in the exhaust BEFORE the cat. One is between the engine and radiator (Bank 2, sensor one, Left, Front), the other is between the engine and fire wall (Bank 1, sensor one, right, Front).
The third (Bank 1 sensor 2, Rear) is the one after the CAT.

P0130 is Bank 1, sensor one, right, front
P0150 is Bank 2, sesnor one, left, front.

I was able to find O2 sensors with the connector made on already for about $75 but that was the rear one on the Fed setup monitoring the Cat! I think it was a Bosch! Thru:Bap Geon , contact 888-868-2281

You really need to download the FSM. Basically, no. It doesn't mean that the O2 sensor is bad, but it is most likely that it is. Otherwise, it is good and sensing that something is wrong with the combustion process.

Check the O2 sensor.

I bought two of the Bosch 13242's off Ebay for $23 each. The guy has them on there for around $28 I think but has a "Make an offer" option.

Here he is actually still selling:

I have had every 02 sensor thro a code on my max and i just erased the code havent seen an o2 code since .... These cars are notorious for throwing false o2 sensor codes or the stupidest **** can set them off... I would erase the code anyways cause ur car will run rich and ul get bad gas mileage id personally start there but if u need a sensor there like 50-60$ i believe

Ngk

Me personally, I went with NGK in my 98 I30. I ran a bank 2 code when I got the car back in 06. Put an NGK in, and no more codes up until I sold it last year. Direct fit, and I got them off ebay for a good price. But at this point, I wouldn't recommend to keep changing them, since you need to get to the bottom of it. If you just put new ones in, unless one was faulty, you have another problem. Could be a vacuum leak, small hole in the exhaust letting oxygen in by the sensor. Could be water/oil shorting it out by the harness. Gotta get your face in there and take a good look. If it all does look straight, then go for the NGK.
