De-k swap with 5th gen ecu?

Well i blew up my 99 max a couple of nights ago, with 211k miles and spraying nitrous i knew it was going to happen sooner or later. So in searching for a new motor i found a friend parting out a 2000. and im curious to know if i could use the ecu (and transponder) from the 5th gen along with the motor so i dont need to use an safc. i was told the 99 cali spec (like mine) and the 2000 are more alike then the rest of the fourth gens because of the o2 sensor setup and egr. Should i stick with my computer? or should i just go ***** out and go 3.5

I not as simple as swapping an ECU. The price of a Vafc II is so cheap now that its almost a no brainer. You would be doing so much more trying to make that ecu work let alone flawless and CEL free. Plus with the Vafc II you can set your activation point for the power valve verses using the default 5th gen cross over point.
