Help-Steam coming from radiator cap

Ok, Did a vq35 swap, and took it out for a spin.
The car starts and idles fine. When I took it around the block, I satrted noticing steam from the radiator cap, so I hurreied back home. I didn't notice much if any white smoke from exhaust. My temp gauge does not rise anymore than when the 3.0 was in. Am I overheating? I hope it's not the head gasket. I didnt notice any bubbles when the cap is off and I rev the engine. Any help please?

The first thing I'd check would be the obvious... the radiator cap. Get a new one. They're only a few bucks.

Will do. But if that doesn't solve it what else? I had a tiny leak in the radiator hose that I just tightened. Would the leak cause air to get into the system and over-pressurize?

doubtful, but when you get a new radiator cap, it won't hurt to bleed the cooling system properly.

Changed the rad cap and still a bit of steam coming from the cap. Also car wont rev past 2.5-3k...I only pulled three cosed, 5-15, 9-2 and 13-2. None are MAF related. Any advice? Could the MAF be bad and not throw a code? I have HR pistons and cams in the engine, and I'm runnin untuned atm.. Also I unplugged the maf and it ran like chit, so I know the maf is good.

did you re-bleed the coolant system like you were asked to do?

MAF won't cause overheating. Unplugging it and having the car run like chit doesn't mean the MAF is good. Clean it out and report back.

One more thing - translate your codes into the p-#### code, OR get a proper scan tool and check that way.

maf doesn't always throw a code... the rev issue could be maf related, does sound like it at least.

CONGRATS ON THE SWAP DUDE!

OK I never said that the MAF would cause it to overheat, I guess I just got carried away and threw that info in as to why it won't rev past 3k...I should have started a new thread so I'm sorry about that lol..I'll try to clean it out, but when I looked at it, it's so tiny a fragile looking, looks like a lightbulb filament- it doesn't seem like there could be any dirt on it. But I'll get some MAF cleaner anyways thanks for suggesting this!
I can't bleed system yet because I need a container to put the fluid into. I will though!
I just got back from another drive and the steam isn't just isolated at the rad cap, but it's also coming from the radiator itself, like under the cap where the fan blades are. And when I felt the return and feed hoses, the upper hose is hot like the engine temp, but the lower hose is much cooler, so I'm now thinking maybe the thermostat is stuck?
I put a new Nissan water pump in while swapping, so the water pump shouldn't be bad.
I'm gonna flush it out and check it.
Oh, thanks for the congrats on the swap, I really just hope it starts running like I want it to!

Boiled old thermostat with new one from advance ap. The old barely opened up, the new one opened twice as much.
