matching 4th gen smoothness - current production

Pittsburgh salt has dissolved various bits of my 99 SE, so it's time to find a replacement.

I'd buy another 4th gen if there were low mileage examples, for the smoothness of the engine, the addictive (IMO) way it builds power and that great 5K rpm howl. Have you found another sedan with these with these characteristics? I've heard these characteristics were decreased in higher output VQ's.

Can go around test driving myself, but some pointers from other 4th gen owners would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear that - I just got new front fenders and had all my rust fixed. Too hard to let it go...

Aint that the truth. The new VQs may have more power but they just dont like to rev like the VQ30s. You can bury the VQ30 into redline and barely feel any vibration. They sound great going hard. GIVE....ME.....MORE they say It just something about 3.0 liter 6 bangers, straight or V, be it the VQ, Supra, BMW 3 series, legendary Benz 300 SL gullwing etc.

The ultimate VQ now is the 370Z and the story continues......ridiculous amounts of power but revving hard is like

Nissan needs to make a new 300Z twin turbo, a historical nod to the legendary 300ZX TT. That 370z body is sexy as hell and ready for it too.

Sorry, got a little sidetracked

Should have specified - all of my visible body rust. New front fenders, new metal welded in for rocker rust and rusty area behind rear wheels. Radiator core done last summer and all new suspension bits over the last couple of weeks.
