I just replaced the rear valve cover gasket and cleaned the EGR. I had trouble putting in the new OEM hose on there. I am glad I had a friend who was helping me out.
I think the best thing to do it to cut the old hose and replacing it. That's what I did.

ive done it on mine without a problem and i just did it on my boys whos never been touched, and didnt have a problem then either. i mean i know its small, but you just swivel the left side of the IM up, almost flipping it upside down, and get plyers on the hose clamp and boom done. do they dry rot easily or something that i havent experienced?
i mean of course im gonna replace it with a long *** one just to make it ricockulously easy, but still, dont get all the fuss.

When you pull the hose off the barb on the UIM, you have to be able to hold the UIM in place while pulling on the hose or working it back and forth. This is hard to do with the UIM unbolted. You pull on or rotate the hose, and the UIM just wants to come with it. If the hose has never been taken off, it's hard to get it to break loose and slide over the barb. With the UIM still bolted on, the hose is hard to get to, but that's probably the best approach if you can do it. Lisle hose remover pliers or the Harbor Freight equivalent would probably help.
People who have an easy time with this task surely deserve the respect and admiration of the vast unwashed masses who have a hard time. Salut!
I imagine for most people, that hose is painful the first time they do the job. The second and subsequent times, it's a lot easier. The time it takes depends on whether you have big or small hands, more or less strength, arthritis, bad eyesight, shaky hands, sore backs, etc. We work on our 15-year old car for fun or to save money, not to win contests.

Having small hands has its advantages.

I didn't break it. It broke after I got out of the freeway and I pulled over to get it on with my girlfriend (back seat) and then I see smoke, then I noticed it was coming from the UIM; it just ruined my night
Anyways, Its bypassed now
