Yesterday when i took my car for short distace and did not have my radio on and i notice that my car is noisy. Noise seems to be coming from drivers side, but when i opened a hood, it seemed like it was coming from under the engine passenger side. It kindda makes wooshing shond like something is sucking air. I have pop Intake but I know its not from there cuz i checked it. I have a friend who has same yr. max as i do but his is SE and his is significantly quieter then mine is. Any idea why is more noisy then his is....Please help......BTW i have 95 gle with 55k miles.

 

hmmmm, interesting. I have a similar problem. When I turn that round *** on my stereo clockwise, real lound music comes out of the speakers.

Can you be a little more specific? Find a hose or tube and try listen to areas of your engine, from there you can pinpoint the noise.

 

Have you done a tune up or anything before? What other mods do you have?

also, does the sound get louder if you put it in neutral and rev?

 

I can't imagine what would making a air whooshing noise on the passenger side of the engine bay. The AC hoses perhaps, or maybe the PS steering pump. If the engine sounds louder in general, I would check the chain pulley tensioners for the timing chain. If that is out of adjustment, the engine gets really loud.

 

I took it to my mechanic and found out my A/C compressor's bearing is gone...that **** is gonna cost me round 150 beans...maybe more...i am gonna get my power stearing and alternator belts changed too while he is at it....what u guys think of this price??

 

Is he rebuilding your compressor? A/C compressors are up around 500 - 600 bucks. I think you have a really good mechanic if he's rebuilding it. Must be the clutch assy he's replacing. Price sounds pretty fair to me.
