Replaced Starter, Starter makes weird whirring noise

So my battery and starter died recently(starter as a result from driving around on dead battery).

I replaced the starter and instead of the car powering up I get an initial crank and engine starts to go like it will start up for about a second, but then the engine dies and the starter keeps going with the power on for about 5 seconds with just a weird "whirrrrrrrrrr" before it dies. Did I buy a faulty starter or do I have it hooked up incorrectly? I'm about to take it out and inspect but just wondering if anyone has seen this before. Thanks.

Is this a remanufactured starter from autozone? Used remanufactured or used oem? If its an autozone starter than take it back, their starters are garbage

Got it off Amazon...it is supposed to be brand new but I think I'm getting burnt from buying a cheap starter, lol.

That's precisely wat happen to you, regardless of that you should be able to exchange for another but I suggest buying another brand starter

. Epic FAIL if anyone purchases a starter from AZ. You will be redoing the job in a month...
