Front left wheel well noise. Help!

Here's the deal. My front drivers side wheel well is making this wicked skreetch when i'm not applying the brakes but this noise only happens when i first start my car or let it idle. When i apply the brakes even a little the noise stops. I have a slight idea of what it could be but would prefer to have a better opinion then my own. Thanks

Just to clarify, it's making this noise when you are not moving? What's your thoughts on what it might be? If it's doing it when you are moving, I would check the brake calipers...there are little metal slides that the brake pads set in to and they may be rubbing on you rotor. If it is doing it when you are not moving then I have no idea.

Screeching when making hard left

I get a horrendous metal on metal screeching/scraping noise from the front driver side on my car when I have to turn the steering wheel all the way left while moving. Front end was apart last night and today for a bumper coversion and fog light install, gonna be apart again tomorrow.

I could be wrong but it might be the shield behind your rotors. I had this issue just a few day back where the shield made contact with the rotor so it would make a screaling noise as I rolled off. Take off your wheel look behind the rotor and see if it's close, take a flat head screw driver and pry it away from the rotor making some clearence. Put the wheel back on and take it for a test and hopefully it might be that.

Thanks for the advice but i found the problem and it was a bit silly(weak). i had a plastic bag melted to the inside of my wheel well(Pathmark). I got out and it smelled like burning for a little so i took the wheel off and there to behold was plastic residue. cleaned it off, then while the tire was off just gave the whole area a solid clean. Worked like a charm. Just panicked and didn't access the situation in a clear state of mind
