1996 maxima keyless entry remote - programming issue

Ok, so I know there are some older posts on this so try not to put me on blast. I have a new problem. I know my car has a keyless entry system. I have the security light, the trunk release button on the drivers door, the control module in the trunk, and even when I put my key in & out of the ign 5 times the hazards flash and it enters the programming mode. I turn the key to ACC and hold the unlock button but nothing. The only thing wrong is that in the relay box in the engine compartment(passenger side) there is a relay that is labeled "Keyless 2/Hazard". There is no relay there. There isn't even a connector where iI can put in a relay, it's just an empty space. There isnt any loose wiring and everything still looks factory. My brother has a 1996 pathfinder so I tried his remote before i ordered one. I'm wondering if there is anything that I am missing. Wrong remote? I'm completely lost at this point. Any help would be awesome.

sounds like you have a wrong remote. Get one specifically for the 95 maxima and try again,
make sure you have a good battery in it too.

Regarding the relay thing - the cover over the relays that you have is not the correct one. There is no "Keyless 2/Hazard" label or relay in the 4th gen. The cover should have the number 0L700 printed on the corner.

You may have the wrong remote or a defective remote. At least check that the battery in the remote is good.
