synthetic ATF okay for auto???

Is the synthetic ATF okay for an auto that has 70K miles? or should i just stick with dextron III?

also the dealer told me that i should change my ATF. I bet it has never been changed before and i'm at 70k miles. I was wondering if i frequently just do the drain and refill myself ..say every 5k miles until 80k. would that be sufficient enough? or should just go to the dealer and do the flush? wat do you guys suggest?

or should i try and do the flush myself? ..which is just basically draining..and then starting engine and drain some more while pouring until you have all new oil..correct?

Thanks a bunch. I will finally get my Max back from dealer tomorrow good and running =). Now just maintenance to go.

I would recomend synthetic ATF. I use Mobile 1 and love it. Also, if you drive a lot of miles, a trans cooler is not a bad idea.
