STAGG SHS 4 STRUTS & VOGTLAND SPRINGS NISSAN MAXIMA 95 to 99

So I have been searching around a ton and haven't found much of any info about these. Anyone have any experience? I did find one thread in the 5th gen section, but other than that all I can find is people putting them on other cars (bimmers, mazdas, mustangs, etc.)

Mostly what I am asking is has anyone had any horror stories with these?

Depends on what you're trying to do with the car,

I was thinking about getting these, but decided to save a little bit more to get illuminas and eibachs. You have to pay to play.

If you really need some struts theres a guy selling all 4 quickstruts for $289 shipped lifetime warranty. They are monroe copies and I hear they are "decent"

Yea, I'm looking for a little drop, but nothing crazy. I am about the replace both axles and wheel bearings since my car's been dropped like 2" on blown struts for a long time now. I saw 1.4" drop all around on the vogtland springs which seems about right.

I also had a buddy that bought this set up for his 02' eclipse and I helped install the fronts. Seemed like some quality stuff and the ride quality wasn't much different from stock, just handled better.

I'm really just trying to pull some horror stories out of the woodwork if there are any

looks straight to me. Why not try?

i paid 500 for my HR springs/ tokico blues setup, so the price looks good. Just wonder how long they will last up. I had my setup 2 years and it still good.

Seems solid. I plan on trying this setup since my rears are blown now. Michigan roads are horrific on a lowered suspension so I am going to ditch the Intrax.

Bro, tell you what. those stagg struts are going for $128. Then get those purple drop springs for about 70 bucks and you should be fine and even have more of a drop. Also remember you might need new boots, mounts, etc.

My eibachs and illuminas have the 1.4 inch drop and I wish it was lower. Those purple springs will do you right.

springs- http://www.ebay.com/itm/95-99-NISSAN...2d0b39&vxp=mtr

It says vw jetta but you should be fine. those springs drop like 2.2 inches, which is in the S-tech range and a lot of people here in NYC recommend those on some good struts.

The springs are good. Mild drop and well made. The struts I cannot speak to

Got staggs and vogtland 1.4" drop springs on the way. Also ordered new shock boots. While I'm at it I'm replacing strut mounts and bearings, wheel bearings, and both axles (NEW, not that reman $H1T). Also sway bar bushings for the hell of it.

A bit of an overhaul i guess you could say

I'll try and remember to take a few pics along the way, so long as I can get my photobucket account working

Hey thanks a lot for the opinion! Anything's gotta be better than my AG springs with blown struts, every bump I hit feels like a sledgehammer hit the bottom of my car

-A good one referring to not dropping more than 2", and would explain the few, and i mean few so far I found, complaints and reports of quickly blown struts.

"Dear maxima_style,

No will not work with a 2.0 drop, Max drop is 1.5 that it will work with.. we do not have any brands available that can handle a 2.0 drop on a maxima suspension geometry. The maxima comes with very little wheel travel from the factory, if you drop more than 1.5 inches you will run into poor ride quality poor handling and blown shocks in 2 month, some people might say otherwise to sell you shocks, but the truth will not change , selling shocks is all we do and we know every cars suspension design and what they're capable of handling, however there are solutions for proper lowering of 2 inches of a maxima and that is to have a custom shortened strut body made to allow for more wheel travel but that will cost more than $850 to put together, Thanks
Sounds like purple nurples are a bad idea.

I've got 350z Tein S.Techs and 350z Stagg SHS struts on my G. Struts are decent for the money, I suppose. I wouldn't say they're utter junk, but they've worn a bit faster than OE struts have shown to do.

Would I buy them again? In a pinch, sure. They offer a limited lifetime warranty, which, so long as you don't abuse or destroy the struts, you get free replacements. But if I have the money, I'll go with something more reliable, like Tokico D-Specs.

well Those purple nurple springs are so close to S-tech specs. So many people on here have those with struts like agx and you dont hear that many horror stories. Yeah if he was in NY he would blow his struts, but hes not, so I think he'll be alright,

BUT seeing as he already ordered something else already, it doesnt really matter lol

Just because a no-name spring offers the same drop amount does NOT mean it is similar in specs to a name-brand spring.

My Teins gave me a 1.75" drop, and still ride comfortably. Those purple springs...I don't know. I'd be curious to see what the rebound rate is on them compared to the Teins. An aggressive drop with too soft of springs = constantly riding around on your bump stops. And that's no fun.

More than a 2" drop will blow the struts out. Why on earth would you do put 2.2" drop on them knowing they would blow in three weeks??

Blown struts AND destroyed cv axles. That's most of the reason I'm redoing the drop on my car since it was too low to begin with, which in turn destroyed the axles.

The vogtland set I have coming with those staggs should be about 1.4" all around, so I should be relatively safe.

Looks nice and shiny dude.

and to the guys above, being LOW on coils blows out axles too, but you still see people changing out axles so they can maintain their ride height. Just saiyan

Hi guys I'm a newbie. and I just got a 1999 Maxima. Was wondering if these struts & springs were good? I like the price so I'm contemplating on getting them. Or is it best to go with something else?
