I'm looking for the bulb size that fits in the dome light above the gear shifter. It is not a regular bulb... I bought some LEDs that had an adapter that looked exactly like it, and when I installed it, it didn't work. My original bulb still works but its not bright at all and looks like:



On ebay they have different LEDs that look similar to this bulb..but i know if i buy something again it wont work.. im thinking its either BA9S or BA13S?


Does anyone know?

By the way, it is your MAP light. Your DOME light is between the front and rear seats

 

your LED write up is good, but doesnt answer my question. It just says you used an SMD light.

What I'm asking is what bulb size do i need... when i search on ebay i get alot of different bulb sizes and I already bought one and tried it and didn't work..

take the stock bulb out and compare it to the ones on this chart and you will find your answer i dont quite remember witch one it was ATM.

 

for the map light, you can get a 3x3 LED array that uses the BA9S base. When you wire it in, be sure to reverse the polarity if it doesn't work.

Did you do that to the one you bought? Flip it around and try again? LEDs only work one way.

That way, if you plug it in and it doesn't work, simply unplug the black connector, flip 180 and do it again



Is the map light the only one you need? Or were you thinking of getting an entire kit (dome, map, doors, trunk, license plate lights), becuase I"m selling full LED kits for 4th and 5th gens...see my sig

 

ok thanks. yea i tried to reverse it but I couldnt because the wires would only go in one way and its not possible to reverse the polarity by just turning the bulb around

 

you got the white connector that was keyed one way, didn't you?

lol I did that too once. It IS possible to reverse it, but it involves some cutting of the connector so it's no longer keyed.

Were you looking to LED the entire interior?

 

yeah so far i've done all the other lights.. still need to do my gauge lights and that MAP light.. yeah I got the white ones and I'm sure theres a way to flip it but I just used it for my other car..

No. get the ones I linked earlier. For many reasons...the most important being the MAP light may not physically fit a 24SMD...second being the 24SMD you just linked is the older style LEDs, whereas the one I linked to has the better "5050" type LEDs. 3x brighter.

I take it you didnt click the LINK to what you need? You need an SMD panel with a BA9S adapter....

 

No I ordered it yesterday. I got the 24 SMD - if it doesn't fit I'm going to swap the one I have in the DOME light to the MAP - because the dome light right now has a 12 SMD LED.
