Unfortunately, the only way I know how to get rid of the codes is to get a manual ecu from a 95-98. The codes you should be getting would be for the auto tranny.. any other codes would have to deal with a different area of the car, but def tranny codes. Best ecu to get is from a 95 as there no speed limiter as well as no egr so if you choose to delete your egr, you can do so without codes.

the 95 SE has no speed limiter, but that goes for all SE's. The GXE limits at about 117 and the GLE is around 100 if I remember correctly. And there is an egr, but it's mechanical and easy to just block off.

i ****in seen this to late i already ordered a 97 ecu. i wish i read this sooner cause i woulda went with the 95 and blocked off the egr. im gettin tranys codes and i got some other code. i clearled them today and ima see wat comes back up tomrrow. and when the ecu comes in ima swap it. wat do i gotta do electraily in order for no codes. is there any rewiring that i need to do or can i just hook up the ecu an be straight( i have already done the reverse lights and i have set up the other to wires in the reverse switch on the tranny(they are so when the tranny is in N the current is connected) i hooked them up to the P/N switch in the harness so i dont have to push the clutch pedal in to start it but it has to be in N to start cant be in any gear. if there is any wireing could u plus let me no. my car needs to be inspected like 2 months ago

thanks
