From what I have read it takes a LOT to destroy one of our motors, and from the story the OP gave us it seems he did all the right things... to kill his car:

1. Not doing regular oil changes causing the gunk he was describing.
2. Ignored oil light and kept driving on an engine with low/no oil pressure from said gunk.
3. Kept driving as pistons were seizing from lack of lubrication.
4. Kept going and going and going... until everything died.

Now I admit, when I first owned a car I knew absolutely nothing, I did not change the oil on my car (which wasn't a Maxima) for like a year, heck I did not even know what a dip stick was or what its for. I only knew how to put in a key and drive. That was it.

But after several years on this forum, and learning from these crazy people; I can pretty much do all maintenance myself. Now there were a few times where someone's well disguised sarcasm caused me to do something stupid, and that is why I think some people have trust issues with the forum. But most people here would love to help.

Now that the nice part is over, please buy a cheap Honda Civic or any car for under $1000. And learn first.
