11.

Thank you FlipCapt45 for his 66k mile 96 automatic donor vehicle.

And thanks to Grey99Max for his financial backing to get this project started.

This is it, I'm sending a car on on the leap of faith for you guys, which the .org has let me down many times before, hopefully not this time.

I do NOT and will NOT have the cost because they will not know what exactly it takes for the MS3 unit to run the VQ30 + Stock Auto TCU until they complete it.

Here was the latest list I got from the last thread....

3. Zigg
4. shadyonedeath
5. bksmax11203
6. 95maxrider
10. ShocknAwe
11. Maximatelman
12. Iilac
13. TheToolMaker
14. carsnwomen91
16. hvft

Can someone PM these guys and still ask if they're interested? I don't have too much time on my hands to be doing that kind of stuff ATM, but I do have more time to make sure at least a prototype is made, and hopefully it is a viable and an affordable option.

I'm in a mad rush to sell stuff so I can afford this

Is there at least a "ball park" estimation on the price? Like $300 or $700?

I am still in.

This will be a piggy back to the stock ECU or unplug stock ECU plug in MS?

I will stay in contact w/ Darren on this one, maybe he can make some harnesses like how he did w/ the Haltech's that run piggyback/standalone style, but right now this is all extremely pre-mature.

The cost is totally unknown because MS does not know what it'll take to fully operate the VQ30 properly, once that's known cost will be given.

Thanks for chiming in guys, I will update the list in the AM.

do you think there's any potential for a 5.5gen ms? this would be a nice upgrade from utec and probably more cost efficient then haltech.. i'd hope. and hopefully tuners can tune better with this as well. where are they based?

Quick question, for the guy/gals with 99's. Will megasquirt be able to make an internal modification to their ecu builds that deal with the pin swaps that differ from the 95-98's? Or will we need to contact Darren about an extension harness that has the intended pin wires switched?

99's have a different pinout

the cam/crank sensor wires are moved around. search for a thread titled either 96 ecu in 99 or 95 ecu in 99

It is quite easy to re-pin your stock plug though.

Only one unit will be made via MS to save the hassle... But I haven't talked to them recently, so maybe this can be easily fixed or not.

Lets just get a car running on the MS first

Differences with the 99 automatic transmission

When I compare the 98 and 99 FSM circuit diagrams, there are considerable differences in how the TCU (Transmission Control Unit) connects to the ECU.

On the 99, there are two wires going to the ECU and two going to the TPS plus one from the Neutral switch.

On the 98, there are seven wires connected to the ECU, plus three others going to the neutral switch and TPS.

I don't think that MS can cope with these two different wiring patterns for the TCU. I can handle it since I have a custom-built Shift_Fast3, but no stock 99 TCU will work right with the 98 wiring. Perhaps a 95-98 TCU could be wired to the MS ECU, but that's unknown. There's also a commercial shift unit that some here have used... dunno the name, but streetZ uses one.

There's probably other things different with the 99 ECU. "it's always something"

I might as well jack my TCM and ECU from my 95 Max since I have the feeling that I'll be needing to rewire something.

Do it!! You will not regret it. Emissions is now a breeze, no more NATS. I kept my same TCM though and have not ran into any issues.

Just my opinion all..take it how you want. But lets try and keep this Thread with people that are in for the buy and not add conversation (questions, comments, smart remarks) as it will be pages long like the other. Bring the other one back from the dead so anyone that is new to the topic can read the other thread and comment on that with any questions or suggestions.

BUMP

Anyone near Suwanee want to loose their car for a day or two?

You MUST be an auto, your car must be running 100% fine (shifting wise).

They are going to probe your car and see what exactly the TCM needs to shift le tranny for a day or two.
