suspension help

hi i have a 99 se ,i had replaced lower control arms and stabilizer end likes also had a alignment done by Firestone and they had to use a camber bolt on the passenger side for alignment ..ok sorry for long post but know i know i need new axles clicking and boots are torn so know i have a poping noise when turning left and like metal to metal sound maybe banging not sure ,so i had read in the forums that it might be strut mount bearing are bad well im sure it is the struts seem to originals maybe the car has 115000 on it ..anyways i open the hood start the car and turn the wheels back and forth no sound it only does it when weight of the car on the drivers side while turning,so im thinking of replacing the struts the bearing and axles at once to solve the problem .Ok will i have any problem putting new struts and were the used the camber bolt on the passenger side?and will the alignment shop have any problems because the use of the camber bolt that was installed? Im not a suspension guru but would like some insight on what you would do thanks also the car is stock and not lowered

if you're clicking on turns, then yes you need new CV axles. Drive like that long enough and you'll need a new wheel bearing. Drive like THAT long enough and your wheel will fall off one day.

Why did they use a camber bolt on the passenger side when they aligned it last? If you take it back to the shop once you get your stuff done to it it won't be an issue.

and not to be rude, but if you spaced out your posts into paragraphs and used proper grammar / spelling / capitalization it would be so much easier for those who are trying to help you to understand exactly what is going on with your car.

sorry for the grammar, but my my steering wheel was off to the left and i had installed lower controls arms bushings which were bad and end links then i took it to firetone for the alignment and they said i need the camber kit for right side to straightening of the steering wheel which came out perfect... So know my driver-side is poping when turning left and like some knock sound ,like i said i check these forums and lot of people are saying it is strut bearing mount ..So im going to replace the struts and axles at the same time ,so i am worried about when they installed the camber bolt will it affect anything when i install the new struts....Like i said the struts are maybe ome but not sure...thanks

My opinion is to do as much work as you feel comfortable doing at once. No sense ripping the thing apart 3 or 4 times because you wanted to just "get by" on the bare minimum.

I'm not sure why they used camber bolts on a stock suspension that didn't have any problems. The only thing I could think of would be that it is A: sagging so much from blown struts that is was creating negative camber (which from what you said doesn't sound like the case) or B: they wanted to charge you to put in camber bolts.

Oh, and I've heard people claim that you have to grind out the holes in the bottom strut bracket for camber bolts, but any that I've seen that was not true. They just slide in a little more difficult that a regular bolt.

But yea if your gonna replace struts anyway I highly recommend new strut mounts and bearings, even if the ones you have look good

...unless your gonna go low, they'll help your tires last longer. Plus he said he already has em so they aren't hurting anything.

Oh, and I just found this out.. My local shop, where I get alignments, offers a 3 year or lifetime alignment, so I can get my alignment adjusted for free for any reason for the next three years. Worth asking around about if you plan on doing regular work.
