Changing Calipers

How hard would this repair be? A shop I went to last week showed met that my rear left one is leaking. They quoted the caliper as $130 with labor being i believe over $150! Is this a do it yourself project or do I NEED to bring it there?

Have you done brake work before? Are you comfortable bleeding brakes and dealing with possibly difficult to remove (rusted) brake lines?

This isn't a difficult job as brakes go, but there is the line removal issue if you have a lot of miles. Also, you probably want to do the brakes at the same time - depends on the caliper condition.

Some (most?) people replace both calipers as the other one probably isn't much better off. You can check. It's also possible to rebuild the calipers if they are not rusted in the bore (50/50 on that) but that's another skill set.

I would try to rebuild them but being that you live in "Jerz", rust will surely be an issue. Likely just the outer seal
