So much for buying an aftermarket remote...

So my new Maxima is a GXE. I see that the car already has a factory alarm on it (knowing it can be a pain in the rear for some). So on eBay, I bought a remote that was compatible with the car. I got in 2 days ago, attempting to make it work (instructions were given). I checked both the hood and dash 7.5A fuses for the anti-theft. Dash fuse was in, hood fuse was not. Dropped 7.5A in the hood, okay good. Try again, not working. Hm? The fuse box on the passenger side has a "ANTI THEFT START" fuse. Great. Nothing in that spot.

Any way to purchase one of these big fuses? Seems like a pain if I got a hold of one, because there are not wires hooked up to an adapter in that spot. So much for buying a remote.

You also need a receiver module...check the right side of your trunk, peel the carpet back and you should see a box. Audio you may need a new BCM.

Before u do ANYTHING ELSE, attempt to get car into program mode. If the lights do NOT FLASH, then u need a new bcm as well. Search around for the procedure.

I needed new bcm new receiver module and other stuff...that's how I know

Honestly I might as well buy an alarm off of eBay. Saw one for $60 bucks, and it was a 10 minute installation. Seemed very easy. It only has 1 or 2 plugs on it. Simple is all I need. Not gonna get into advanced alarm systems. I hate wiring.

GXE was the lowest line if you didn't know, so it's likely you won't have keyless from the factory. That was my situation so I got a cheapy from audiovox and I've loved it ever since.. it even pops my trunk

I do know that. But bothered with it anyways. Audiovox? I'll check it out. I just need a simple keyless entry. Did you install yours yourself?

yea, aps 101n is the model I got. I installed it myself without much problems but I relied heavily on wiring charts from "the 12 volt." That and I have an electronics degree lol.

I will say the alarm is a bit obnoxious, but the sensitivity can be turned way down (possibly even off) and the alarm chirps can be turned off.

I have eBay remotes on both Maximas and they work great - they programmed in like 10 seconds. But on a car that didn't have keyless from the factory I'd probly just go aftermarket. My Prizm has power locks but no remote, so I nabbed a $99 Groupon that got me remote start and remote locks, all on one transmitter. Nice to have that car in the modern age now LOL
