Mysterious bracket and hose

So while I was cleaning my TB, I noticed the following items.

The bracket is firewall side of the MAF, but below it. It's that tab with the hole through the left end.

The hose looks like it's never been connected to anything. There's the same amount of dirt inside as on the outside. I can follow it down to the driver's side of the front head, but then I lose it in the warrens of tubes.

Here's some pics.

its a breather hose for the transmission, it doesnt connect to anything. You can trim it down slightly if it really bothers you
