99 Nissan Maxima SE cd player

Hello all. I just got a 1999 Nissan Maxima SE. This car is awesome. The only problem i'm having is with my CD player. The radio works fine (very surprised the tape player works too) but it's just the cd player that irritates me (it's a 6 disc changer). When I put a cd in, the player reads it for about 30 seconds and then says ERR. I'm not sure if it's because it's dirty and dusty inside or if its because I need a new one.

BTW this is not a Bose system, its the regular stock.

Welcome to the org.

There is a newb section just for you.
Or you could just make one thread for your problems.

I'll try to answer them all here and you can delete the others.

CD player- Get a new/used one.

Clock- Get a new/used one.

Antenna- Get a new/used one.

All these things fail at some point or another.

I've replaced the clock and antenna on mine. Aftermarket radio, but the Bose was still working when I took it out.

I would say error on the cd player means toast.

The clock flickering would either be a loose connection or your clock about to fail.

Antenna stuck up? Do you still hear the motor trying to work for it?
Either the teeth are stripped or the motor quit for it.

Good luck.

I was hoping you had better news for me I'm not a big fan of aftermarket products, but at the same time I don't want to go to the dealership and have them charge me an arm and a leg for them to patch it up and have it break further down the road.

And the antenna is in the down position, no whirling sound or anything. As for the clock, that doesn't really bother me as I wear a watch and have my phone on me just in case. I wanted it for show, you know so everything looks good for when a female is in the pass. seat

Thanks alot. One more question, when I lock my car with the remote, I dont hear the horn honk, just lights flashing and the doors locking. Is this normal for Maximas made before the 2000s or is mine just "specal"??

It's worth checking your fuse for the antenna, but more likely it's toast. Sorry.
Normal for the alarm. No chirp, just a hazard light flash.
You can get the clocks cheap on ebay or ask around here.
