Grounding issue?

My passenger headlight went out.Purchased a new set so I could replace both. The non working lights bulb is good, fuse is good and I have power to both the low and high beam contact on the socket. Can I bypass the ground and run one direct to the socket to check.Any help would be helpful.
Thanks,
Joe

yea just run your own ground to it..if this doesent help might have to do some run downs on the hot wire to see if its broke or exposed somewhere
