Foglights not working due to?
Foglights not working due to?
So my 98 max didnt come with fogs just the wiring, i installed fogs last night, got the switch from a 2001 Infiniti I30, fuse was already there, and installed a relay. Turned on the car and only the left side was working ( headlight, and fogs). BUT the right side fog wasnt working at all including the headlights, corner lights.
I was using a half dead battery .. maybe thats the cause? or maybe its the switch?
Checked everything on the right side, all bulbs and connectors are properly in.
Any suggestions?
signals dont work also !
tried on my OLD switch, and only the left side headlight is on... maybe its the battery?

pretty sure the wires wont be messed, because my car came with the wires OEM already because my headlights were perfectly before, until i plugged the foglight connector to the I30 switch.. ill check for both connectors, and the wires.
The lights will be dim with a weak battery. But, the battery wont turn on some lights and not others.
You have separate circuits for the headlights, fog lights, turn signals/hazards. So the only way for your right side and turn signals to not work is if:
1) there is no ground present
2) something in the wiring or switch is touching or otherwise shorting the fogs out between the other circuits
3) fuse (for the right side only, doesn't explain turn signals/hazards)

Do you have your center dash apart? Specifically the portion with the hazard button? The turn signals wont work without it (or if the car's not on).
According it the fsm there is only 1 relay for both fog lamps. So if 1 works, the relay *should* be fine. But, you can swap it for another relay of the same type to make sure. I think the anti-theft relay is the same (don't try and start the car without it though).

I think it is most likely the Infiniti headlight switch. It has one more position than the 4th gen Maxima. It has the AUTO position next to the OFF position. It is not the same switch as your 98 Max needs.

yes. Get a switch from a 4.5 gen Maxima like you should. Specifically, the 97-99, as (at least with the variable intermittent wipers) the switch is different than the earlier 4th gens.
Frankly, I am also surprized that the switch even fit properly.
