This whole thread interests me.. I heard it eats at your clear coat pretty bad though. I saw where some motorcycle guys had bad experiences with that

Im dipping my 03 maxima this spring. i will document all of it and possibly make a video. will also be fixing my rust on the rear quarters. Planning on doing gloss white, carbon fiber effect on the hood and mirrors. still debating on doing the roof with the carbon fiber effect along with the trunk but not sure since i want to keep the spoiler and it might look weird with a carbon fiber painted trunk and spoiler. and gun metal or gloss black the rims. And if I am feeling motivated enough i plan on doing some of the interior trim either matte black or carbon fiber painted effect. Ive already taken all my before pictures, so hopefully the weather eases up here in MA and my work doesnt get in the way lol.

That AE86 looks like **** and so will a Maxima. If your paint is scratched tastefully whisk over with a clear coat. If you know what you're doing, that'll solve your problem. If you don't know what you're doing, I can't imagine why you'd even consider your original thought.

What your doing is really impressive and of course you will save a ton. When I have my car painted over again I will do the clear vinyl wrap to protect the finish but I will pay a pro to do it but thats just me. posts pics when its all done.
