Anyways, they both came out almost identical in numbers. We determined back then that the shorter Warm Air Intakes like the one posted above didn't work as hard to get the air from the filter to the throttle body whereas the CAI's were having to work harder to move the colder air from further away.
The CAI's had one or two more pound foot of torque, where the WAI's came out about 1 or 2 more horses. It was really insignificant.
What we definitely know is that you are MUCH more likely to suck water with a CAI if you ever find yourself on flooded streets. I shouldn't have to explain how bad that is.
As for the IAT, just get a step bit, and pop a small hole in the back side of the upper tube that you have, re-use your grommet, and pop it in there. That's what I did on my 4th gen back in the day.
BTW, if anyone cares, I preferred the growl of the WAI over the CAI. You all know what I mean.

There are miles and miles of threads on this including dyno results comparing true CAI with what we used to call WAI's back in the day. I believe GTR_Rider had some posted at one time, but that was around 2004 or so.

he place racing sits inside the fender in a "box". behind the plastic splash guard in front of the front left wheel so its covered from water, it's also like a foot above the bottom fender. Meanwhile the injen sits naked between the fans and the engine

I belive that the cheap ebay intakes even have a hole for it, i got the ebay CAI in my car and on the underside of the peice that is infront of the TB, there is a small whole with a gromet. I poped my IAT in there and just laced it with some clear sillione to seal it.
