vq30de-k question

Done a lot of research. Have a 98 max, bought a DEK to put in. Less mileage. Two questions if anyone can help. If i don't have a california emissions engine do I still have to buy a rpm switch for Vias. Or with DE lower intake manifold with DE injectors on the DK I won't have too? Sec question, do I switch over motor mounts brackets and mounts from the DE to the DK and it will b ok putting in? Thanks for the help in advanced.

Doing this swap as we speak myself. Your VIAS is in the UIM and you have to have an switch to use the VIAS or take it out and have a blockoff plate made. In the lower intake manifold are swirl valves for the DEK that have to come out and have the hole closed.

My opinion (and only mine) run the 5th gen LIM and injectors, get an RPM switch (cheap cost).

RPM switch is needed regardless since the A32 ECU has no way of activating the VIAS.

And I agree on the A33 LIM/injectors.

The OP should also note that running A33 injectors with an A32 ECM will pretty much require tuning. The A32 ECM doesn't know how to deal with the A33 injectors, and as a result will run rich.

To add to that, VERY rich, since these run quite rich even with stock injectors.

Well not getting the car tuned. Just moved up to nj from vs and haven't done any tuneing research up here. I'll keep the main and injectors with connectors when I do find someone. Is there any way to look up how to ok install the rpm switch. Did some research and its telling me a grey wire is unused, white with green trace hook up for me rpm signal and power and ground. Am I missing something? Don't I have to put this thing in bc of current ecu can't activate vias. So just by connecting these 3 wires in, how am I accomplishing anything?

Wait.... just thinking power and ground on the solenoid and a input signal(tach) set to 3200 around about. Is this correct?

And sorry another question. I'm new at nissan so forgive me. Should I use the DE cams or keep the DEK cams? Heard 3.5 cams are beast but can't find a good deal on them

ehh, Aftermarket FPR, wideband and VFAC2 can tune and take away fuel for you. The VFAC2 will also run your OOVI...just a thought.

Well have a vision fpr, and vafc but not the number 2 version. Will the original work or do I need the vafc2? And what about cams?

Vafc one or two, i run the latter. The vtec can trigger vias and it's set at 5k rpm on a stock dek

if you want to do cams and work with what you have then take de intake cams with dek exhaust cams

Awsome. Thanks for the answers. I thought I could use intake cams off the de. Longer intake duration. And just wanted to know if I could use vacf. Already have one somewhere from hondas, so saves me money. Wish I could use a egt for tuning the car instead of useing a wideband. Still gotta get one. Guess for the price ill buy one with a datalogger. Be benificial in the long run. Not tryn to make this car a beast, just one of my cars that blew up and found this motor cheap. So wanna maximise on its potential for limited money. Have many other projects still working on.lol. thanks
