so I got a 98 5 speed and I found something new

Ok ive had my max for about 1 1/2 ive tuned it up and gone back to stock while doing a few reluctant fixes (transmission output shafts seal and new exhaust gaskets)

I peeked inside the transmission where the axel sits I noticed a rod poking through it so did a little research I believe I have a stock tuned NISSAN LSD TRANNY O_O now don't qoute me on it yet all the reading explained a fwd sr20det transmission

I didnt read about any maximas having this I guess my question is is this correct or did I read something wrong if theres any maxima gurus that would like to share

I would be greatful thanks guys for letting my gloat a bit if im correct or take it easy on my noob mistake but any how im still happy I have a 5 speed ^__^

Your transmission code is on the fire wall. Read it, write it down, google it or search this site.

That rod you saw poking through means you do not have an LSD tranny. If you did, you'd have an unobstructed view from one side to the other.

Take out the driver side axle and look at the side that goes into the tranny and if it has an extended tip then thats an vlsd axle

Another way is if the transmission id numbers has V as the last letter then it's vlsd and if it ends in A then its open diff

Jack up the car with both wheels in the air, rotate one wheel forward, if the other wheel rotates in the same direction, it's LSD
