1999 Maxima Elec Problems

Currently having elec issues where when the headlights are placed on at night, the brake lights stay on. I already changed the brake switch but that didn't help. Also when you push on the brake pedal at night, the front parking lights go on and the lights on the dash (odometer/radio) dim. The brake lights brighten only slightly. When I press just slightly n the brake there is a clicking sound that can be heard under the gear shift in the center console.

Any idea's what the issue/s is/are? Any idea how to repair?

Thanks

Does this only happen with your headlights on?

The issue occurs whenever you hit brake with reference to dimming of interior lights and parking lights going on. The brake lights only stay on when headlights are on.

Remove and inspect all the 1157 dual filament lamps. You probably have a bulb where the filaments have warped and are touching each other, creating a connection between the brake filament and the parking filament. But i have also had bulbs where the filaments only warped when power was applied and they heated up.

You can do a visual inspection and maybe you will find the culprit, but maybe you will have to remove a bulb and try the lights.
