iacv question

Just bought a 98 maxima 3.0 vq with an 00vi swap, the two nipples coming out of the iacv have nothing hooked up to them, what can i hook them up to my cars idle is rough always up and down between 800-1200 rpm, bad with cold starts, sometimes she just randomly stalls out at the light. This car came with a few plugged vacuum hoses ill post pics soon.

U have a few choices. U can option to use 5th gen t.b. with 4th gen iacv. I have the adapter to get rid of your iacv and the adapter with 4th gen iacv to hook up. Been successful for people. 35 bucks it's all yours. It costs more to make yourself. Look at jsutter instructions to get a better idea of what I'm talking about. I personally have 5th gen wired up with those nipples connecting to a coolant source. Works for me but not everybody is so lucky. Others deal with what it going threw, but adjust the idle screw. So u will be running 1100+ rpms all the time. Hope this helped. Pm me if u need anything

Looks like half of your EVAP/EGR system is missing. There is a huge metal valve that bolts on the back of the manifold near the rear of your picture that is not there. that should connect to the plastic saucer toped valve that should be sitting on a bracket right there on your TB.

I haven't put my VI on yet so Im not real sure about specifics. Is that a 4th or 5th gen throttle body? If its 4th those coolant hoses underneath dont need to be hooked up(mine arent). On the 4th gen thats the fast idle thermo valve which i bypassed. If its the 5th gen throttle body those lines on the bottom of it is for the Iacv. I would try hooking them up like they are supposed to be.

Im no expert but if you could confirm which throttle body it is that may help. I dont see a remotely mounted 4th gen iacv so i would assume that its the 5th gen. If so try running coolant through it and make sure its hooked up. Also are you getting any check engine lights?

I said the fast idle thermo valve doesnt need to be hooked up but it may help with the idle. After unhooking mine i had issues with my idle until I adjusted it to my liking.

Also upon looking a little harder Im sure thats a 5th gen throttle body. I would definitely try hooking up the 5th gen iacv. Do that and see what happens. Sorry for any confusion.

It's pretty much a rats nest with the wiring. The plumbing is a hack job. Without being there it's going to be tough to pin point your issues. If it was my car I'd start from scratch. I would not trust any of the work previously done.

What are you using for to tune? I see 5th gen injectors which are bigger than 4th gens.

Is the 5th gen IACV wired correctly? Personally, I'd remove it and run the 4th gen IACV.

You probably have numerous leaks with the screws as plugs. Trace all the vacuum hoses and connect, plug, or remove them as needed. Some have been plugged and they don't actually need to be. This tells me the other guy was working blind.

If you want to put a breather on the front valve cover, you need to disconnect the rear valve cover from the intake manifold. You can put another breather on there or just plug the PCV valve, then plug the IM nipple.

It looks like your car is a 95. There are some small differences in emissions controls which could help with identifying hoses and whats missing. Do you have an EVAP canister behind the rear drivers side wheel?

Listen to jsutter he knows his stuff. I'd start over on the wiring for sure and fix those hoses with bolts in them. Start reading up on all the 00vi threads and how-tos. They say the 4th gen iacv is better but Id say hooking the 5th gen up will be better than nothing at all like you currently have.

Are you located in ny so you can take a look?
