hid's causing whine in stereo???

i was listening to my stereo last night and i turned on my headlights and it started whining, just loud enough to annoy the $hit out of me. i turned the car off and back on and still whining, after i took off the whining seemed to go away, but i've noticed the alternator whines after it's been running and then sits and always has. its a napa alty and its pretty normal for that, but i've never heard the hids cause this b4. check grounds maybe, or is there some common issue that causes this> thanks

The more load you put on that napa alty the louder the wine will be. It's putting out dirty voltage.

How old is the alt? You might want to get a bigger one.

Put a line filter in. It will help with the whining, and is only a few dollars.

i have 2 filters on the amp allready, the alty is only a little over a year old and the head unit is only a few months old. you mean a filter for the head unit? i think the napa alty is a piece of junk and its 125 amp as well.

IMO, it's either a bad stereo ground or your alternator. Based on how your alternator is whining, I'd say it's the alternator's fault.

Put a filter on the power before it reaches the HU. But you might be better off getting another alternator. I would get reman or used. I've learned aftermarket parts for out cars suck. I had a TYC alt that whined like crazy. Through speaker and through itself. Sounded like I had a supercharger. Lol.

I had the wine on a grand cherokee i had. Actually went and got a new one and almost home the alt locked up and snapped the belt

You can probably get a used alt for about $30-45 at a yard

i have a lifetime warranty alternator from napa. the alty is'nt that old, maybe 16 months. a filter from the power sounds right to me. this is the second alternator in 2 years, the first got soaked in oil from my timing cover leak. so, i put some roofing tin in there to cover the alty. works pretty good.

Instead of fixing leak. Thats great. Lol. Surely you could go around the timing cover with silicon and it would stop it?

For someone that take such pride and care of the exterior, I'm a bit surprised to read this....

doing the timing cover seal and all that's intailed is a bit different that polishing and waxing the outside. were talking 1,500 to 2,000.00 to do the whole job and i don't have the money for that.i mean, if you'd like to volunteer your time to helping me with that job i'd be glad to do it.
