sporadic idle on start up
Sometimes when I start my 95 maxima the idle will jump from 1k to 200 two or three times then slowly level out, or if I shut the car off and restart it it idles perfect on the 2nd start. I really dont know what to start checking and wondered if anyone here has heard of this before and might point me in the right direction.
codes I get are 0304 and 1008 I didn't want to change the KS until I fixed the evap problem in case it was throwing the KS code.

Since you haven't mentioned you've cleaned any of these I'd start here: http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...g-dummies.html

ok I looked at the how-to on cleaning the Maf,TB, and EGR and dont feel comfortable doing this. I just wonder if its the KS because of the symptoms. Sometimes on the first start up of the day I have to turn it off and restart because it will just keep jumping RPM's and have no power on takeoff. If I shut it off and restart it its runs good but stills hesitates at low RPM's until it takes off and then has alot of power. Is there symptoms for a bad KS or can it cause different things to happen? I'm still getting the 0304 code along with 1008 which I changed the Evap valve but code came back.

Not a knock sensor bro. It's not hard cleaning the mad, tb, get. Although this seems more like the maf is showing signs of sporadic faulty. Or a dirt iacv. We have problems with mafs with these cars. Never the less, ks isn't the corporate.

I know how you feel OP... I had no prior experience when I first set out to clean them a little over a year ago. Set aside a weekend, gather all the appropriate tools, sprays & gaskets. Start with cleaning the MAF, as it is probably the easiest. Just be gentle, it doesn't take much to break the plastic intake pieces. Next easiest would probably be the IACV, then TB. Save the EGR for last, you WILL notice a positive difference from cleaning the first three. I had a negative experience with the EGR, I had unbolted the top bolts first, and was never able to loosen the bottom bolts, when I attempted to put the top bolts back in, nothing lined up, it sucked, but, thats one of my noob stories...long time fixed. Plus when I finally did clean out the EGR it was nasty, but not THAT bad, even at 200k. Please don't pay anyone for a MAF, IACV or TB cleaning.
