Finally gonna lower my max

Ok, I have a friend who's got Megan Racing Lowering springs on his wrx, and has never had a problem.

He is telling me to get springs, and I can score these for 180

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TEIN-S-TECH-LOWERING-SPRINGS-95-99-NISSAN-MAXIMA-/180812300602?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AMaxima&hash=item2a1940c13a&vxp=mtr
My other friend with a volvo just bought coilovers for 500 bucks, he is telling me I can find coils for 400, but... where?

I know that the best route to go is to spend 800-1200 on great coils, I know. So please, for the sake of saving YOUR time, don't recommend them, I simply cannot afford them.

Will I blow my struts with those teins? I heard that's a big problem!

Tiens stechs are good but not on stock struts your going to want after market struts as well and coil overs for 400 yea some cheap coil overs but then again after market parts for maximas are expensive compared to other cars because of the small market.

No to stechs. You'll regret it. Any lowering springs on stock struts will blow them.

Make sure those Teins are authentic. I've seen fakes go around.

Also, you're going to blow your stock struts so don't just get springs.

After buying new struts/springs and mounts/dust boots you're already close to (if not in) coilover price range. Do it once and do it right. If you cannot afford coilovers now just save.

you'll be happier if you wait and do all of it at the same time with the right parts. screw tiens, horrible stiff ride. eibachs are good, i have some maxspeed springs and i put on some kyb-gr2's 4 years ago and still no complaints. here's a link http://www.ebay.com/itm/Maxspeed-lowering-springs-Nissan-95-99-200SX-Sentra-Lowering-kit-suspension-/271203136434?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f24f773b2&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/KYB-4-GR2-ST...314958&vxp=mtr

S-techs are horrible, the drop leaves no suspension travel on the 4th gen.

Look for Eibach, H&R'S, or Progress.

Without sounding lazy, could someone link me to what I'd need to buy because although I understand what I'd need (Sort of) I'm still a bit confused.

So, the springs and struts? Total around 400-500?

If that's the case, what about shocks?

See, I just searched for KYB's for the maxima and the first thread that came up was on this site... the topic was about how they all blew out in a year and how they suck LOL.

That's why it's so confusing, - this is great, this sucks. But I suppose that's with anything.

If your going to go with KYB, do not go with the AGX's. Pretty stiff ride with them & gets worse when it gets colder.

If getting coils other than Teins, they're all you need. Teins need stock mounts but others don't.

the gr2's dont suck, thats what i've had for over 4 years and no issues at all. problem is, some of the op drop their ride 2 inches or more and they blow quicker that way. that's why i only lowered them a little, rides a little stiffer, and it def. handles better with no scraping on every speed bump and low driveway. i can only imagine what some of these slammed op's max's go through, body kits, suspension issues, paint scraped etc. there is a point in which you gotta decide how low you want to go. some of these slammed cars in here are really nice, i gotta admit.

Any input on these, guys?

1.25 drop is really not a lot though. I mean, that's still one hell of a gap.

^^^^ yes, but if you want a bigger drop its going to be bigger money. plus, when you take apart your suspension other things will need to be replaced such as, boots, strut plates, that little ring on the top that makes the wheel spin better, and then you need an alignment after you are finished as well.

s-tech is the lowest, best looking spring. Google it and check out how you like it on the car

If all you care about is looks, cut your springs. Cheaping out here is not going to cut it. Pun intended.

Without serious work, we DO NOT have the travel to drop more than 1.5". I've been on countless drop springs, Intrax, Eibach, Canuck Motorsports, Progress, Stech, even Ground Control. I've been in Maximas with other drop springs like H Tech, Sprint, and a few others. Hell I've even cut springs. I wouldn't lower an A32 without CSK, but that will blow your budget.

Stick to a 1.5" drop.

I installed a Tokico kit years ago on a buddys 99. If they are still the same spring the drop is lower than 1.25.

It sat about the same as Eibachs, rears are on Koni's upper perch.

As for struts:

KYB's ride stiff. GR-2 is equal to AGX set half. FWIW I hated my AGX.

Tokicos ride better. HP's are basically stock replacement. Illuminas are not worth the money. They ride OK but don't offer what Konis do.

Konis Yellows > All. You can shorten them to gain wheel travel back. They also only adjust rebound which translates into a much better ride.

The new Koni SRT.T are a great compromise and I'd try them out if I was on a budget.

So judging by what you guys say, most of them can be compatible with each other.

For instance, if I were to buy them right now

- http://www.ebay.com/itm/FULL-SET-TOKICO-HP-PERFORMANCE-GAS-SHOCK-NISSAN-MAXIMA-95-99-NOS-BLUE-STRUTS-/161014345667?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AMaxima&hash=item257d33efc3&vxp=mtr
- http://www.ebay.com/itm/TEIN-S-TECH-LOWERING-SPRINGS-NISSAN-MAXIMA-95-96-97-98-99-A32-SKP28-AUB00-/250909443098?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AMaxima&hash=item3a6b5e441a&vxp=mtr
Cause the Konis are like... 600

To me, that looks great. But, is that what the Tokico's will look like? If so, that's a good deal.

Anyone have any pics of them with Tokico's on?

I'm not ****ting on the Konis but imo really not worth the money. With springs at 200 the setup ends up costing nearly a grand with shipping. At that point I'd buy bc c/o lowered at 1.8".

i still say any lower than 1.5 front and 1.3 rears and your scrapin and replacing axles and suspension parts and body kits. i know there's coil-overs out there which i might do this summer, especially after a run down a highway with some jackass yesterday and the max rock and rolled wayy too much for me.

I just got new axles from old age, lol. And the gap looks simply horrendous without lowering it, I mean it's the only thing holding it back from looking great.

I think those megans look like a pretty good deal!
