205 vs 215 tires

Is it possible to swap 205 for 215's.
You can save a ton of money by moving to 205 from the stock 215 tires but Im not sure if that recommended. Comments.

sure it's possible.... and you can do it if you want.. What rim do you want to do this to? the stock 16" SE rim? They will fit, but they will be a little more narrow... I am not sure about the money saving, to me, the 40-60 bucks you may save, is not worth it.... car will handle a bit worse, plus it will probably be easier to scratch the rim since there is less sidewall sticking out to protect it from the curb. I wouldn't do it.. but it's up to you.

I switched my tires from the stock 205/55 16 to the 215/50 16 and have had no problems with handling, or torque steer. If you want to switch your tires, just make sure you keep the rotation distance (the distance it takes the tire to make one full rotation) the same. Any store that sell you tires should have this information. Also, ensure that for every size you go up your aspect ratio should go down. As i've said, I have had no problems and yes, I did save a tonne on $$$. One other thing... keep the speed rating or the tire the same or go up. NEVER NEVER NEVER go lower than the speed rating of the O.E. tire.

hmm the stock tires on my car's 16's are 215/55/16 (GoodYear "Bad traction in wet and not so good in dry" RSA's).

I just put 215/55/16's (Yokohama A520) from 195/55/15 (stock GLE). I was thinking of 205s, but I was told that the speed ratio would change on my speedometer (since I was plus sizing). Also, 215s will give me a more comfortable ride and handle a bit better than 205s.

225/55/16's

I wrapped mine with 225/16's and they were actually $8 cheaper.

I wouldn't downsize from 215 to a 205 (unless for snow tires). If you shop around you should be able to find really good 215's for the same price, and you'll enjoy better performance.
