Should a factory alarm trip with the car unlocked?

Hello! This is my first Maxima, so I do not know everything about it yet. A couple weeks ago, I went to the auto parts store to get fluids. I forgot what I needed, so with the car unlocked and windows open, I reached through the open window to pop the hood. When I opened the hood the alarm went off. I could understand this if the car is locked, but unlocked it didn't make much sense to me, so now I leave the driver door open every time I lift the hood. Any input would be appreciated . Thank you much!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads

No it shouldn't do that. Something is clearly wrong with your system.

The alarm sets shortly after the doors are closed and locked. I'm willing to bet you hit the lock on your remote, possibly without noticing it (think pocket dial) and locked the car. With that, your alarm set and opening the hood set it off.

Remote? , I didn't get a remote when I bought the car. It was a trade in to a dealer, and I apparently bought it from a wholesaler even though it was under by owner on craigslist. If you want to see how not car knowledgeable the wholesaler was look at weird Trouble code that I have never heard of.

BTW, some of the girls I went to high school with are grandmas now, not quite 40 myself.

The trunk decided it didn't want to open after I oiled the latch mechanism. Sure was fun getting it from the inside. Just a question of getting the seat part of the back seat back in now. It is being argumentative about the pins going into the receivers.

That's what I thought at first too, but figured the OP confirmed his problem before posting
